Cairns Helicopter School

Cairns Helicopter School operates from the General Aviation Section at the Cairns International Airport in Queensland, Australia.

Both our Chief Flying Instructor (Barry Dick) and our Chief Pilot (Noel Stubbs) have many hours experience with various helicopters. They are well-respected pilots throughout Australia with extensive knowledge of regional flying.

Learning to fly is as Easy as:

Trial Introductory Flight

To begin your new pastime or career as a Helicopter Pilot it is as easy as taking one of our obligation free Trial Introductory Flights. During the 30-minute flight with an Instructor, you will be at the controls of a Robinson R22 Helicopter.

Theory Course

The Commercial Theory Course is provided by Cairns Helicopter School in the form of a home study kit. Although this is not a university course, dedication to study is required for your new sought after skill. Our staff can discuss a personal program to suit you.

Flight Training

The Cairns Helicopter School uses the R22 for ab-initio (beginner) training. Cairns Helicopter School are permitted to operate the following aircraft on their Air Operators Certificate (AOC): R22, R44, Hughes 269/300 and the Schweizer 269
